Clever frame details and clever storage solutions, like the integrated mini-tool and the compstorage items are just the icing on the cake. New Orbea Rallón.
With the new Rallon, everyone will get what they are looking for and go home with a great bike. Here's why: When purchasing your new Rallon, you can customize the finish with to the MyO online configurator from Orbea! Plus, using the preconfigured builds of Orbea as a base, you can upgrade from compindividual components such as brakes, suspension, wheelset, etc. Our review is based on the 2022 Rallon M-Team and sells for a very reasonable price of €6. For 638, the Spanish bike manufacturer is fully committed to integration, giving the all-new Rallon a compLockR storage unit and an integrated Torx 25 keyless mini tool. Although there is a bottle cage mount in the front triangle, Orbea has not added a tool strap mount on the tube superior. The new Rallon comes standard with two different shocks, allowing you to switch from a 29er wheel to a mixed-wheel setup with a smaller 27,5er rear wheel. All cables are neatly routed through the frame. This ensures a clean look and a quiet ride on tough descents, while generously sized seat and chainstay protectors and a TPU plate on the downtube prevent chain drop and protect the frame from stray stones and rocks. flying debris. Heavy and aggressive riders will notice a good amount of flex out of the rear of the Rallon, which was designed with comfort in mind. That being said, the flex is something you will get used to after a short while.
Like most 2022 enduro mountain bikes, the Rallon M-Team features premium FOX Factory suspension. Unlike other manufacturers, Orbea lets you choose between a FLOAT X2 air or DHX2 shock to go with the 38 GRIP2 fork. The bike has 170mm of travel in the front and 160mm in the rear. We strongly recommend using the air shock for better progression and increased reserves. This gives the Rallon more pop while allowing the suspension to soak up bigger hits more effectively. The Rallon M-Team is equipped with a Shimano XT 12-speed drivetrain and matching four-piston XT brakes. GALFER brake experts supply the 200mm front rotor and 180mm rear disc. Unfortunately, the latter is too small for the intended use of the Orbea. It overheats quickly and leads to arm cramp and fatigue on long descents.
While the Rallon comes with a chain guide as standard, there isn't a single bash protection option in the MyO configurator. That being said, the standard ISCG mount on the Rallon allows you to fit any option compable. The M-Team model comes with a pair of RaceFace Turbine R alloy wheels that are mounted to rugged MAXXIS tires. A combination of an ASSEGAI on the front with a Minion DHR II on the back. Both robust and indestructible. DH carcass and MaxxGrip soft rubber. If you like to rumble, this is the perfect tire choice, as the rugged carcass provides extra sidewall support, allowing you to ride at lower air pressures and thus generate more traction. If you are not so sauvage but still want peace of mind on the trail, we recommend using MAXXIS' DoubleDown casing, which is a much better option than the puncture-prone EXO+ casing. Whatever your riding style and the type of terrain you ride on. With its 175 mm travel, the FOX Transfer Factory shock absorber ensures sufficient freedom of movement. That being said, you can also choose 150mm or 200mm travel in Orbea's configurator at no extra cost! No matter how far you ride, all shocks come with the same FOX remote, which offers silky smooth action and is attached to an 800mm wide Race Face Next R carbon handlebar.

The stiff seat tube ensures an upright pedaling position, making the Rallon an excellent compagnon for long hikes and great adventures. Uphill, the Rallon's suspension feels relatively stiff but there are still more efficient climbers this year. Needless to say, the tire's heavy carcass affects the bike's agility and acceleration, although once you fire it up the Rallon comes up the mountain with plenty of alacrity. However, its direct rival, the SIMPLON Rapcon exceeds him in all ascents.
Downhill, the Rallon impresses with a very balanced riding position. Cockpit ergonomics push you forward into an active position. With its stiff suspension, the Rallon provides precise ground feedback and only uses its travel when needed. As a result, the Orbea is extremely fast but at the same time smooth and compdaring, inspiring enormous confidence on all kinds of terrain. Particularly with the air shock, the Orbea's suspension offers plenty of support. Plus, the tires' rugged DH carcass allows you to ride at very low air pressures, which offers all sorts of benefits. Only the suspension of SIMPLON Rapcon generates more traction in open turns while providing excellent support and reserves. With its stiff rear suspension, the Rallon encourages you to rip through nasty sections of trail and hop from berm to berm, almost begging you to play with the trail features. Active riders will benefit immensely from the Rallon's snappy yet predictable character, allowing you to land ever-bigger jumps with surgical precision. All in all, the Rallon is a great all-around mountain bike that shines on all sorts of trails and is a lot of fun to ride. Speaking of fun, even when you get a little too excited, the Orbea provides enough reserves and keeps you from eating dirt.
As for the appearance of the Rallon, the MyO configurator allows you to customize the frame according to your wishes! The spec options are just as perfect, except for the rear brake rotor size. The integrated mini-tool and the compClever storage items are just the icing on the cake! With the excellent suspension and high fun factor, the Orbea is a first-class all-rounder. Sold at a very reasonable price of €6, the Orbea Rallon remains the best value for money enduro mountain bike of 638.
